My Favourite Reality TV Show is "The Voice".
The Show requires participants to try their best to sing.

A good Reality TV Show should accomplish some purposes:
    1. Entertain Audience.
    2. Different Consequence every Show.
    3. Challenging the paticipants.
    4. Provide Professional Suggestions.

I think the reason of the popularity of "The Voice" is because the show "The Voice" brings a fresh image to the audience. The Show Provide a place to let the skillful singer
in the country to bring their own performances. It is cool that the perfomance brings sympathy to many local singers.
In general speaking, because of the convention "karaoke", most of the people can sing and practise well. Therefore the show become popular as most people love to sing or listen to music.

Apart from the drama and game played by the artist. Reality show has become a trendy. It gradually rises since 1999 –the Big Brother and it is not the end. Without celebrity, without a fantastic story, without some romantic elements, everything is shown by the ordinary people. The America’s Next Top Model shows a group of girl being trained in each week competes for the identity of a next America model.

Someone said the popularity of reality show comes from the spying tendency of people.

    American Next Top Model
Some girls participate in the programme and try to be a model. They will have competition during every week. They will talk bad behind others.

    Reasons for their popularity:
This is because the host is famous and beautiful. She is Tyra BAnks, and along with the other judges--Nigel Barker and Miss Jay, they create a lot of jokes and funny moments.
Moreover, the girls in the show are mostly beautiful, they do attract a large number of audience. In addition to the above, the show provides 24-hour cameras, so we can all spy on the participants' lifes.

  5. Personally, I think people love watching reality show because they would like to watch some so-called real TV programme. They may found the TV series is so boring and old-fashioned. A brand new exciting and realistic show can made them happy and relax.

  6. Here are a couple of words for you to look up and consider in this context: schadenfreude and voyeurism.

Comments so far focus on why these programmes are popular with viewers but other groups should also be discussed: contestants, programme makers, programme broadcasters and sponsors / advertisers.

It consumes time and looks boring ̄△ ̄
And not much knowledge can be leart from most of it

because many of them are televised live!
And this kind of Programmes may make viewers feeling easy and interactive as the flow of shows are not fixed(?)

Someone said the popularity of reality show comes from the spying tendency of people. It may be true, but there is a better reason. People can experience what they can’t have or try in the real world. For instance, a few weeks ago, a series of programmes talk about the true life of being an air hostess. What have the beautiful ladies done are spot and spied by all walks of life. In view of their pretty faces, well-figured and uniform identity, it is believed that working in the sky is wonderful. Through the reality show, mankind can understand and watch more something what they are interested in thoroughly. Finally, the audiences have found that being an airline worker isn’t an easy task, also isn’t an elevated job. Even the ladies worked in the aircraft strongly not recommend people work there. Reality show has the advantage to expose the truth.

As the aim of the show is to show the reality, ordinary events, arbitrary emotion and different behaviours can be seen. Reflection and in-depth thinking are expected after the show. Sometimes, we can’t find any problems on ourselves, “I do anything right”. The show, serve as a mirror, let you see your action in daily life. Allowing you to know more about yourselves, know more about the eve living in your body, and clarify what the god has told you. In the Big Brother, easily find someone that resemble you, may be the characteristics, the hobbies, even the mind. Observing someone is observing youself, you can learn to behave better from the others. It’s not an imagination or impractical soap show!

Those programmes continue to be so popular, why? It is a good question that worthwhile to take time thinking about it.

  9. TV reality shows are the shows that involve lots of contestants and they are assigned to perform jobs, solve tasks or perform on the stage. The daily lives of contestants will be recorded and showed on TV. For example, the show “America’s Got Talent”, the one who win will get a contract and superstar in USA.
My favorite reality show is “Britain’s Got Talent”, (link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leL4smXXiDU ).
Britain's Got Talent is a British television show and it is part of the Got Talent series. Presented by Ant & Dec, singers, dancers, comedians, variety acts, and other performers compete against each other for audience support. The winner of each series receives £100,000 and is given the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance in front of members of the Royal Family, including the Queen. The first series of the talent show began on 9 June 2007, and was broadcast daily with a live final on 16 July 2007, in which Paul Potts won.
In fact, what are the elements that make those reality shows popular?
Firstly, in the aspect of the authority, though holding TV reality shows, the authority can find the best person who gets talent to perform jobs. Lots of multinational corporations always hold reality shows for employing the most suitable candidate. For example, American girls who think they get talent to be models will join the show “American Next’s Top Model”. They are given different difficult tasks and jobs. By recording their performance, the model company will choose the most suitable girl who gets talent to become top model in USA. Thus, it is so popular for companies to hold reality shows for employing the best employer.
Secondly, in the aspect of public, audience can know the importance of co-operation between others though watching those reality shows. Just like the participants in “Project Runway”, they need to finish task such as clothes designing in group or team. In the show, some groups designed trendy clothes easily and quickly and they won; however, some other groups needed lots of time to finish the task since team members were willingness to work with each other and they always argued with team members. Therefore, audience can understand that co-operate with others whole-heartedly is the key of success. This element makes reality shows popular.
Above are the main elements that make the TV reality shows popular.

The genre covers a wide range of programming formats, from game or quiz shows. Reality show frequently portrays a modified and highly influenced form of reality, utilizing sensationalism to attract viewers to generate advertising profits. Participants are often placed in exotic locations or abnormal situations and are sometimes coached to act in certain scripted ways by off-screen "story editors" or "segment producers," with the portrayal of events and speech manipulated and contrived to create an illusion of reality through editing and other post-production techniques
Personally, I support the reality show. It is both beneficial to the participants and the audiences.
The participants will be greatly attracted by the prizes and money by winning in the reality show. This is an extreme attractive to the participants, they are confident that that can win in the competition and win those prizes. For example, the winner of The Voice may gain a golden opportunity to have a mini concert.
Also, the reality show being so popular is because they are showing what the audience are interested. Audience will enjoy the show if they think that the show is closely related in reality that means the show is not merely concerns the imagining idea of the director or producer. In this way, audience are explore better of the reality through watching others in the reality show.

Reality shows become increasingly popular with viewers. Many people turn their TV’s to reality shows. Why do they have such attractiveness?

In my opinion, reality shows seeming so real is the reason why so many people like them. The popularity of reality shows reflects that people actually enjoy being in people’s lives and like to know what is going on with other people. Reality TV actually seems to be an obsession with the people of the world. When we watch a reality show for the first time we instantly get drawn in. It just seems like we cannot change that channel. This is because we kept getting left off and just have to know what will happen next.

Besides, some reality shows which involving the arts - singing, dancing and acting, which usually draw the audience in by giving them a certain amount of control over the outcome by enabling them to vote for who stays, goes and ultimately wins. This immediately increases the popularity of such shows. Also, the results of the show can change the winner's life hugely and the viewer gets taken along for the ride. They see the emotional ups and downs of the journey in excruciating detail but also, the viewer gets to play god to the people inside the programme, so to speak.

On the TV production companies’ side, there is a very compelling economic reason for producing reality show. They are remarkably cheap to make. Once the company got a bunch of no names, it is getting not only very cheap labor, but the non-unionized labor. Reality TV has also become wonderful for product placement. For example, when we look at Survivor, for instance, the prize this week may be beer and Pringles. It is such blatant product placement that you know there is a lot of money funding this cultural trend. So, the number of reality show is on the rise.

    Favourite reality show: Hell's Kitchen

My favorite reality show program is “the Superior Game Master”.
The show plays tricks on the actor or actress with creative games.
Hong Kong people are living under stress. If the show can share laugher and fun to the audience, it will be so success. This reality show can help them relax, and this is the point why the show is so successful.
Hong Kong people are working days and nights. The show is also shown in a very suitable time (on the Sunday night) when all the family members are home and after dinner which can let the family be more joyful and have the same topic to talk.

It is a programme that provide entertainment for us that we can learn more or understand more about a fact, a event or a person.
It is popular as people have their curiosity about various things. Also, there are advantages to watching reality programmes.
First of all, the reality programmes are greatly entertaining audiences. When the participants are playing games, answering some questions or some other items in the show, fans must have interest.
Secondly, the reality programmes providing professional suggestions to the participants.
Lastly, the reality programmes challenging the participants that brings funny atmosphere to the situation.

Recently, reality TV programmes are very popular, for example American Next
top Model, The Voice, Project Runway, Survivor. Why they are so popular?
Fristly, the contestants in a reality TV show are not acting; they are being who
they are in real life. The producers and the editors of the show create a
captivating story line. The result is pure, unadulterated entertainment, much
more potent that any soap opera that you may have seen.
Besides that, audience like the element of competition. We like it when people
bully each other. Sometime the contestants completely humiliate each other
and this is the "reality" that audience want.

In the recent years, there is more and more reality show broadcast on the different channels because many audiences think those show are interesting and enjoyable. For example, the ‘British Got talent’ and ‘American Idol’ which are provide a platform to the participants to show off their talents. Besides, “Hell's Kitchen” is a kind of reality show also; it is an American reality-television cooking competition (based on a series of the same name, broadcast in the UK) broadcast on FOX. It is hosted by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

Reality television is a genre of television programming that presents purportedly unscripted dramatic or humorous situations, documents actual events, and usually features ordinary people instead of professional actors. The reasons why those reality TV programmes continue to be so popular is that those TV shows are so interesting. Besides, those participants can become famous in one night and job opportunity might come directly to them.

The other advantage is that it is a good to show off your special talent, like your presentation skills. It is a good chance to test your self-confidence by standing and doing something in front of a lot of people. Those programmes provide a good and free training opportunity to those participants.

And also, the public might be interest in knowing more about you in real life and you every action or every activity will be exposed to the public. Therefore the reality show become popular.

Nowadays, reality shows are getting more and more popular all over the world. I like watching reality shows too. And my favourite reality show is “We Got Married” from Korea. In the program, many artists played in a part of the show. You can see their normal life after married and had different activities and tasks. Such as give the others a special present and have a sporty day together. It is funny and romantic and you may laugh or cry when you watch.
The reasons why they are so successful is that there are different styles of reality shows. For example “American Next Top Model” produced by US broadcasting corporation which is a serious model competition. “Survival” which is one of the British television programs, which groups of people live and compete in the natural environment. These shows usually cover a wide range of programming formats, from game or quiz shows which resemble the frantic. They suit different viewers’ tastes in varies ages, distinction and preferences.
On the other hand, audiences are curious to the participators private life. They can enjoy different life and experiences thought the camera, such as travel to the danger regions in the traveling reality TV shows and experience the normal life of the artists. Without affecting their existing life style but enjoy more.
More and more reality TV shows with varies styles are showing all around the world and I hope that we can continuously enjoy more high quality reality TV shows.

Nowadays, when we turn on the television during dinner time, we can find that Reality TV programs are easy to find on different channels. Reality television is a genre of television programming that presents purportedly unscripted dramatic or humorous situations, documents actual events, and usually features ordinary people instead of professional actors. Reality TV programs invite some famous people or general public to participate the show, take part in a competition, or play a game. The genre covers a wide range of programming formats, from game or quiz shows which resemble the frantic, often demeaning shows, to surveillance- or voyeurism-focused productions.

Those programs are mostly shown in form of game show. The judges out the participators until only one winner left and whom win the game. Most of the reality TV programs shows on the television are related to fashion, art work design, special talent, technical skill, or athletics. The winner of the game show could be offer a great, potential job with high salary or with many promotion opportunities. As those competitors are being well-known to the public, it would be extremely easy for them to find anther job at the other giant companies. Therefore many people are willing to participate in the show and win the game. This make the competitions between those people who want to be a fashion designer, a model, a chef, a singer, even the bridge of an ideal man, keen and excising. Audiences are also attracted by the keen competition.

<< Project Runway>> is my favorite reality TV program. The program is about the competition between a group of fashion designers. Those designers are required to design a set of clothes at each episode according to the topic. The final competition even required the designers to design a set of collection. Apart from the competition of designers, the program also offers the competition between the models. As I am interested of something about fashion, this program is fantasy and interesting. i am really appreciate the creativity of those designers.

Taking Britain's Got Talent as an example, the success of this kind of reality talent show is astonishing. The main idea of the making these shows are to find the new talents and give them a break. Not only the talents can apply to enter the show, but also allow the audience to have a briefly understanding on the requirements of entering the entertainment industry. In the meantime, audience can also enjoy good laughs while watching the TV show.

For the true talents, it seems to be the easiest way for them to have a breakthrough moment from the tough time. It's all about change your life in 15 minutes fame. For instance, the former salesman at a mobile phone store Paul Potts had never got a chance to realise his dream. However, he is now a megastar with two albums which topped the charts. Let's look at Susan Boyle, who came to international public attention when she appeared on Britain's Got Talent, singing "I Dreamed a Dream". That’s how she became the households name after that 5 minutes TV appearance. What’s more important is that Susan finally has her dream come true with her first album debuted as the number one best-selling CD on charts around the globe.

Today it is almost impossible to turn on the television and see a program not reminiscent of, or in some way having to do with reality TV. So what is Reality TV? Reality TV is the projection of peoples lives in real or fabricated situations and can range from documentary style informative shows, entertainment shows based on the lives of reality TV actors, game shows, contests, talent auditions, adventure programs, housing shows, philanthropy, love and dating shows, shows which outline the inner workings of a particular industry and so much more.
The reality TV that I love is call “America's Next Top Model”. This modeling talent competition, was founded by international supermodel and TV host Tyra Banks, and features a group of would-be models all vying for the title of America's Next Top Model, which gives them a modeling contract among other prizes. The audition process for America's Next Top Model involves various rules and regulations after a recent casting call resulted in a riot.
Here are some ideas that why is reality TV so Popular:
People like reality shows not because they are real. Reality shows are so attractive because you are getting a ringside view of other people’s private lives. Even if it is something as exaggerated and bogus as a starlet’s bridegroom hunt, you find yourself instantly drawn to it and caught up with the minute details. You may also find yourself unwittingly switching back to the channel to catch up with what’s going on even if you manage to channel surf to another show.
What is more? There will be some element of competition in reality show. Take the popular reality TV show – Survivor for instance. We like it when people bully each other, call each other names and engage in backstabbing all in the name of winning the competition.
To sum up, we can obtain many life experience through reality TV and learn how to meet challenges in our daily life.Love it or hate it, reality TV is here to stay. Producers will continue producing reality shows, big brands will continue endorsing them and we will continue watching them ………………….and forever……….

Reality television is a genre of television programming that presents purportedly unscripted dramatic or humorous situations, documents actual events, and usually features ordinary people instead of professional actors. The genre has existed in some form or another since the early years of television (primarily with game shows), but has expanded significantly since Big Brother first aired in 1999. Documentaries and nonfictional programming such as news and sports shows are usually not classified as reality shows.
The genre covers a wide range of programming formats, from game or quiz shows which resemble the frantic, often demeaning shows produced in Japan in the 1980s and 1990s to surveillance- or voyeurism-focused productions such as Big Brother.
The reason why the reality television has an increasing popularity because the audience feels bored on the episode. Episode means some people act some role to make an unreal story that means episode is not real enough compared with reality TV program. Reality TV program can show the real fact in the world but episode can’t.
Also, reality TV program can provide more choice on TV program. Audience prefer diversification on TV program, the demand on reality TV program increase. It is the one reason why reality TV program has an increasing prevalence.

By definition, reality television is a genre of television programming that presents purportedly unscripted dramatic or humorous situations, documents actual events, and usually features ordinary people instead of professional actors.

In US, there is a television program named “Survivor”, which is a reality television game show format produced in many countries throughout the world. In the show, contestants are isolated in the wilderness and compete for cash and other prizes. The show uses a system of progressive elimination, allowing the contestants to vote off other tribe members until only one final contestant remains and wins the title of "Sole Survivor". The format for Survivor was created in 1992 by British television producer Charlie Parsons. The show is credited for making reality television a popular television genre.

Reality shows are getting more and more popular nowadays, there are few reasons for the popularity of this type of TV program.

First, the prizes of reality programs are attractive and abundant. Many people thirst for winning the prizes. They think wining the prize is easy, also they may think it is a way to become famous, some people believe joining this kind of TV shows can paved way for them to enter the entertainment industry.

Second, people who stay at home have different ways to relax. They may surf the internet or switch on the television. TV series may be boring to them and they are interested about reality shows because the reality show can reflect the reality and the privacy of other people.

In conclusion, people hope to watch different types of TV programs rather than the traditional TV series and story line. Also the huge amount of prizes and money attract lots of people to take a part in the show.
